TRUTH TUESDAY

#ALLQUEERBLACKLIVESMATTER

I
Am
A winding scream,
Internally speaking. I am
Afraid to let slip such a bittersweet
Aroma of truth past my quivering lips.

I
Affirm
Positivity to roll all over my
Taste buds– keeping a sense of
Richly enjoyable vibes to circulate my
Body, because

I
Lack
Self-esteem that
BLACK
QUEER
LIVES
REALLY
MATTER.

“It’s not my fault.” -a term coined to support victims of abuse. Does that include:
Generational trauma- pain and mental illness passed down through genetics?
Abuse of not just sexual injustice,
But corrupt vices such as
Verbal, physical, emotional, and
Spiritual? Do you know the Bible was
Used to condone slavery? Or how it’s
Strategically used repeatedly to justify
Homophobia?

“No justice, no peace.
Know justice, know peace.” -Author Unknown

Now streaming:
“Jessica Paul and the Chamber of Illness” -Parody Author Unknown.

My life,
Quite like a dramedy in royal
Fashion felt like “black girl magic” of
My childhood adventures… staying up into wee hours of morning praying the mysterious fun won’t ever end.

That’s not reality. There were secrets
Lying deep within me, guarded by
Cold walls of my hidden chamber.

I…

Was
Lonely.

Reading and writing, once my best friends, venturing off into the path of
Being higher learning tools to earn
Me the best survival skills.

When your 12, exploring the story behind Emmett Till, with that damn photo that taunts me as a reflectance of his horrendous murder….

Oh, what they did to a 14 year old boy from Chicago whom whistled-flirting at a white woman in Mississippi under Jim Crow Law. I’ll never forget the traumatic image of his open casket printed on old newspaper. Newspaper. Mamie Till, his mother. Newspaper. I was once a 14 year old black girl from Chicago.

Emmett, how can I serve you justice?
You, me, black people of Chicago, of Illinois, traveling through time in circles around this tainted globe we call Mother Earth. Look. Look at “The Donald” spewing intentional ignorance in our
U.S. Presidency. My brown people, do you fear the foolery of this systematic racism aching to dismantle everything our ancestors and active leaders are fighting and achieving?
Look at “The Donald” inviting
The racist out to smear their hatred across this nation they claim was once great….

Go!
Vote!

After our 1st black president… whom has set the mark, within a great heap of damages that were left from the mess of those 43 prior white men leading us, are we shocked this is what our nation has come to?

Our true nations colors are shining.

Red as my ancestors blood soaking deep into the dried up ground from building the White House on scabbed  hands and whipped backs;
from D.C. to
Plantations of slave trades that raped generations of black families-
Snatching our culture into trends that
Were never for the taking.

Blue as cold blooded

Threats that still target, victimize, oppress, kill and haunt us in 2019!

Are you kidding me?

No.

My life is no joke.

Yet I’m praying I won’t be prey.

A legendary gay, black, author:

“The night is beautiful,
So the faces of my people.

The stars are beautiful,
So the eyes of my people.

Beautiful, also, is the sun.
Beautiful, also, are the souls of my people.” -Langston Hughes

Me:

“I am beautiful.” -Jessica Paul

A lesbian, black poet-activist:

“If I didn’t define myself for myself, I would be crunched into other people’s fantasies for me and eaten alive. -Audre Lorde

Me:

“I am proud to be a lesbian, black poet” -Jessi Paul

I am proud to be
I am proud to love freely
The time to rise up is now
I live with hope, joy and peace

NO ONE CAN STEAL MY POWER

“This is for the brown lesbian, trans and queer womyn… among the many powerhouses and different intersectionalities of people within our community, who’ve tried loving themselves when the world hates too much. You are Beautiful. Don’t change, unless you want to…” – Jessica
